Mr. Khaled Bichara

Khaled Bichara currently holds the position of Managing Partner of Accelero Capital. Prior to joining Accelero Capital, Khaled served as Group President and Chief Operating Officer of VimpelCom Ltd (“VimpelCom”), Group Executive Chairman of Orascom Telecom Holding S.A.E. (“OTH”) as well as Chairman of Wind Telecomunicazioni S.p.A. (“Wind Italy”). He played a pivotal role in the US $6.6bn merger of VimpelCom with Wind Telecom S.p.A, (“Wind Telecom”) to create the world’s sixth largest telecommunications carrier.  

Khaled ran ten operations across the globe through OTH and Wind Italy and 22 operations across the globe through VimpelCom. Previously COO of Wind Italy, in 2009 Khaled was appointed Chief Executive Officer of OTH and Wind Telecom, bringing with him a wealth of experience in both telecommunication and information technology coupled with strong management and entrepreneurial expertise.   

Khaled joined Wind Italy in 2005, heading the fixed line and portal business unit before being promoted to Chief Operating Officer of the company. Along with Ossama Bessada, he played a key role in restructuring the company’s organization, resulting in the successful turnaround of Wind from a continuously loss making company to a leading mobile, fixed line and broadband integrated operator in Europe within a three year time span. 

Prior to joining Wind Italy, he was the co-founder, Chairman and CEO of LINKdotNET (“LDN”), one of the largest private Internet Service Providers in the Middle East. In 2001, following successful negotiations, Microsoft chose to partner with LDN to launch MSN Arabia, the Middle East’s first global portal, bringing the full internet experience of MSN to users in the region. 

Khaled currently serves as a board member of various telecom and IT companies, including Orascom Telecom Media and Technology Holding S.A.E.; Joyent, a global provider of cloud computing software and services; MT Telecom SCRL and the Egyptian Company for Mobile Services (“ECMS”). Khaled was previously a member of the GSMA board. Khaled is also a member of the Advisory Board for the Computer Science and Engineering Department of the American University in Cairo. He is an active member of the Software Community in the Middle East, a founding member of the Egyptian Software Association and the Internet Society of Egypt. 

Khaled holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the American University in Cairo.
